Insertr: Marketing Automation vs Video Greet: Gift Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
Insertr: Marketing Automation and Video Greet: Gift Messaging both aim to enhance the customer experience, but they target very different areas of the shopping journey. Insertr focuses on optimizing post-purchase interactions and boosting ROI through strategically placed physical marketing inserts, integrating directly with fulfillment workflows. It's designed for merchants who want to leverage physical goods as marketing tools. Video Greet, on the other hand, is designed to personalize the gift-giving experience itself, letting customers add video, audio, and text messages to their orders. It offers customizable QR codes and landing pages, catering especially well to businesses handling corporate gifts and bulk orders. The fundamental difference lies in the medium and purpose. Insertr utilizes physical inserts to drive post-purchase engagement and track conversions (subscription upsells & cross-sells), while Video Greet concentrates on delivering a richer, more personal gifting experience during the order process. Insertr's strength lies in its ability to integrate with 3PLs, automating the process of adding inserts. Video Greet's strength is its flexibility for personal and business gifting situations. The small number of reviews for Insertr compared to Video Greet suggests it may be a newer or niche product, despite its 5-star rating.

Our Verdict
If you're aiming to boost customer lifetime value and track the ROI of your physical marketing efforts through automated inserts, Insertr: Marketing Automation is the better choice. Its integration with 3PLs simplifies the process of adding inserts to orders and provides measurable results. However, if your primary goal is to offer a memorable and personalized gift-giving experience, especially for corporate clients or bulk orders, Video Greet: Gift Messaging is the stronger option. Its focus on audio/video messages and custom QR landing pages provides a unique and engaging gifting solution. Given the significantly higher number of reviews, Video Greet appears to be a more established app with a wider user base.
Merchants should also consider their current workflows. If they already use a 3PL, Insertr is a very simple plug-and-play solution to getting items physically into orders. Video Greet, however, might require the merchant to educate the customer on the audio/video message creation workflow. The time investment for the merchant could potentially be higher using Video Greet.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, Video Greet claims 'zero code integration', suggesting simpler initial setup. Insertr, while not requiring direct integration, might involve a more complex setup of rules and targets for insert application.
Which app offers better ROI tracking?
Insertr explicitly mentions 'Track ROI: measure subscription upsells & cross-sell conversions', indicating a stronger focus on quantifiable results. Video Greet allows merchants to set a price, making the added service a revenue stream, however the ROI may be harder to track as directly as with Insertr.
Which app is more suitable for large-scale operations with a 3PL?
Insertr, with its 'Works with any 3PL or WMS, no integration needed!' feature, is specifically designed for seamless integration with existing fulfillment workflows in large-scale operations.
Which app provides better branding opportunities?
Video Greet explicitly states 'Keep it on brand — adjust the button to match your store design and language' offering greater control over the visual aspects of the gift messaging experience. Insertr doesn't explicitly mention the ability to brand the actual inserts, but assumes the store is already doing so through their physical marketing materials.
Which app is more versatile for different product types?
Both apps *could* be applied to a range of products, however Insertr is likely more versatile. Video Greet would be less effective for say, commodities. Insertr can target physical inserts based on product type.
