Instafeed ‑ Instagram Feeds vs Shop This Cityfor Shopify (2026)
Instafeed ‑ Instagram Feeds and Shop This City are two Shopify apps targeting different aspects of online sales. Instafeed focuses on enhancing the online shopping experience by integrating social media feeds (Instagram and TikTok) directly into a merchant's store, aiming to boost engagement and drive sales through shoppable posts and visual appeal. It positions itself as a tool to leverage social proof and streamline the buying process. Conversely, Shop This City is geared towards fashion retailers with physical stores seeking to increase local discoverability. It aims to connect merchants with nearby customers by indexing their products and brands in a local shopping directory, ultimately driving traffic to the merchant's website. The primary difference lies in their target audience and approach. Instafeed is suitable for any online store looking to enhance their online presence and leverage social media content for increased sales, regardless of physical location. Shop This City is specifically for fashion retailers with a physical presence who want to tap into the local market and attract nearby shoppers. While both apps aim to increase sales, they achieve this through vastly different mechanisms: Instafeed via content integration and shoppable experiences, and Shop This City through local marketing and discoverability. The review count also heavily favors Instafeed, suggesting wider adoption and potentially more established performance history.

Our Verdict
For online stores primarily focused on leveraging social media to drive sales and engagement, Instafeed ‑ Instagram Feeds is the more suitable choice. Its features directly address the need for social proof, shoppable content, and visual appeal. However, for fashion retailers with physical stores looking to attract local customers and boost foot traffic (or website traffic from nearby shoppers), Shop This City offers a targeted solution that connects them with their local community.
While both apps have a 5/5 rating, the significantly higher review count for Instafeed suggests a more established track record and wider user base. Therefore, unless a merchant specifically needs local marketing solutions for a physical store, Instafeed is likely the safer bet.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a store that only sells online, with no physical location?
Instafeed is the better choice for a store that only sells online. Shop This City's primary value proposition is local discoverability, which is irrelevant for an exclusively online store.
Does Instafeed help attract customers from outside my existing social media following?
Instafeed primarily enhances the on-site shopping experience for existing visitors by showcasing your social media content. It doesn't directly attract new customers from outside your current social media followers. You would still need to focus on growing your social media presence separately.
How does Shop This City actually promote my products to local users?
Shop This City promotes your products through their web application, which aggregates products and brands from local stores. They promote this platform to local users, allowing them to search for your indexed products in real-time.
What kind of analytics does Instafeed provide?
Instafeed provides in-depth tracking and analysis of your web store's performance related to the displayed social media feeds. Specific analytics metrics aren't explicitly stated.
If I use Shop This City, can customers purchase directly through their platform?
No, Shop This City directs customers back to your website to make their purchases. They focus on driving traffic to your online store, not facilitating direct sales through their platform.
