Klarna vs Scala Parcelamento Installmentfor Shopify (2026)
Klarna and Scala Parcelamento Installment both operate within the Shopify payments ecosystem but cater to distinct needs. Klarna positions itself as a complete 'Buy Now, Pay Later' (BNPL) payment solution, aiming to boost conversions by providing flexible payment options, accessing a vast customer base, and handling transactions directly. In contrast, Scala Parcelamento Installment is a display tool designed to showcase existing BNPL options to customers on product pages. It enhances the customer's shopping experience by visually presenting installment plans derived from existing payment processors like Klarna, Mercado Pago, and PayPal, but it does not process any transactions itself. Klarna's core strength lies in its end-to-end payment processing capabilities, targeting merchants seeking to integrate a BNPL solution and expand their customer reach globally. Its weakness according to the provided data is it has a very low rating. Scala Parcelamento Installment excels in customization and visual presentation, enhancing conversion rates by clearly communicating payment options. It is ideal for merchants already using BNPL services and wanting to improve the customer's understanding of installment plans. The key difference is one (Klarna) processes payments while the other (Scala) enhances the visual display of existing payment plan options.

Our Verdict
If you're looking for a comprehensive BNPL payment gateway to process transactions and offer flexible payment options directly, Klarna is an option, though its current user satisfaction (based on the provided rating and reviews) is very low. However, if you already have BNPL services integrated and want to visually highlight installment plans on your product pages to increase conversion rates and AOV, Scala Parcelamento Installment is the superior choice.
Given the extremely low rating of Klarna and the high rating of Scala Parcelamento Installment, combined with the lack of sufficient reviews for Klarna, Scala Parcelamento Installment appears to be the stronger option unless Klarna addresses user concerns and dramatically improves its ratings.
