Klevu ‑ AI Search & Discovery vs Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawerfor Shopify (2026)
Klevu - AI Search & Discovery and Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer target very different areas of the e-commerce experience. Klevu focuses on improving product discoverability and on-site search using AI to personalize the shopping experience and increase on-site search revenue. Their target audience is merchants with busy merchandising teams, looking to optimize product presentation and filtering, particularly those operating in multiple Shopify Markets or needing API/SDK support for custom storefronts. Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer, on the other hand, is all about boosting Average Order Value (AOV) and conversions directly within the cart experience. It offers tools like upsells, cross-sells, free gifts, and urgency timers to incentivize customers to spend more. The key differentiator lies in where each app focuses its efforts. Klevu aims to improve the entire shopping journey from search to product listing, while Opus hones in on the cart page itself to drive AOV. While both ultimately contribute to increased revenue, Klevu adopts a more holistic approach to product discovery and merchandising, while Opus provides immediate, cart-focused incentives. Opus' focus on cart-specific strategies makes it more suited to improving AOV directly. Though Klevu mentions improvements to AOV, its core strength is search and discovery, not explicit cart manipulation like Opus.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing improving product discoverability, handling large catalogs, and those requiring advanced search capabilities across Shopify Markets, Klevu is the better choice. Its AI-driven search and personalized recommendations provide a comprehensive approach to improving the shopping journey. If a merchant's primary goal is to immediately boost AOV through targeted cart-level offers and incentives, Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer is the more suitable solution. Its features are explicitly designed to encourage customers to spend more at the point of purchase.
The limited number of reviews for Klevu should be considered, but its feature set suggests a more robust solution for larger, more complex e-commerce stores. Opus, with its significantly larger review count, indicates a more established and potentially simpler to implement solution for immediate AOV gains. If abandoned cart recovery is a major concern, Opus includes specific functionality for this, which Klevu does not mention.
