Klevu ‑ AI Search & Discovery vs Search Veilfor Shopify (2026)
Klevu ‑ AI Search & Discovery and Search Veil, while both listed under Shopify's 'Search and navigation' and 'Search and filters' categories, cater to vastly different needs. Klevu positions itself as a comprehensive AI-powered search and product discovery platform aimed at boosting conversion rates and average order values (AOV). It boasts advanced features like AI-driven merchandising, personalized recommendations, and advanced filtering, targeting merchants looking to optimize their entire on-site search experience. Search Veil, on the other hand, is a niche app focused on selectively hiding products from search results based on criteria like tags, product types, or stock levels. Its strength lies in its simplicity and direct solution for controlling product visibility in specific, limited scenarios. The primary difference lies in scope and intent. Klevu is an all-in-one solution designed for active merchandising teams looking to proactively shape the customer journey through search and recommendations. Search Veil is more of a utility app addressing a specific need – hiding products from search – offering a quick fix rather than a complete overhaul of the search experience. While Klevu focuses on *improving* discoverability, Search Veil focuses on *restricting* it, highlighting their fundamentally different approaches to the search function within a Shopify store.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a comprehensive solution to revamp their on-site search and product discovery, Klevu ‑ AI Search & Discovery is the clear choice. Its AI-powered features, merchandising dashboard, and Shopify Markets compatibility offer a robust platform for boosting conversion rates and AOV. However, merchants with a very specific need to hide certain products from search results – perhaps due to inventory management, promotional strategies, or the nature of the products themselves – Search Veil provides a simple and direct solution.
Ultimately, the best app depends entirely on the merchant's objectives. Klevu is an investment in a better overall search experience, while Search Veil is a targeted tool for managing product visibility in specific situations. While Search Veil has a perfect rating, the low number of reviews should be taken into consideration. Klevu has much more reviews and the rating is still very high, indicating strong overall satisfaction.
