Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to present products or collections in a visually appealing, easily navigable format akin to social media stories, then KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight is the better choice. It suits merchants who believe a visually engaging menu will improve product discovery and reduce bounce rates. However, if your store boasts a large inventory and you want to streamline the browsing experience, making it easier for customers to discover more products without excessive clicking, Scrollio: Infinite Scroll is preferable. It reduces friction in product discovery, particularly on collection pages. While KOBU has a higher rating, Scrollio has more reviews, so it might be more established in the marketplace.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Scrollio explicitly mentions 'Simple install and setup.' KOBU's description implies ease of use, stating it works anywhere in your 2.0 theme. Without direct testing, it's difficult to definitively say, but Scrollio's phrasing suggests a slightly simpler initial setup.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
Potentially, yes. KOBU focuses on menu navigation, while Scrollio focuses on how products load on collection pages. There may be some visual overlap or design considerations to manage, but they don't fundamentally conflict.
Which app is better for improving mobile user experience?
Both apps aim to improve the mobile experience. KOBU specifically mentions support for a mobile menu navigation bar. Scrollio's infinite scroll aims to make scrolling through products easier on all devices, including mobile.
How can KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight help increase sales?
By making it easier for customers to discover products and collections through a visually engaging menu, KOBU can help reduce bounce rates and improve conversion. Highlighting new or on-sale collections with menu badges could further incentivize purchases.
Which app is better for reducing page load times?
KOBU doesn't directly address page load times, so it is unlikely to impact them. Scrollio can either improve or worsen the perceived page load time, depending on its implementation and optimization. While infinite scrolling can *appear* faster, it could lead to larger initial downloads on collection pages, potentially impacting performance negatively without careful optimization. Ensure Scrollio is tested for page load performance.
