Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing visual product discovery and a social media-like navigation experience, KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight is the better choice. Its focus on circle and square menus allows for creative and engaging highlighting of key products or collections. However, if the priority is improving the efficiency and accuracy of site search, helping customers quickly find what they're looking for through predictive suggestions and a modern search interface, Snap Search: Live Search Layer is the stronger option. Snap Search benefits stores that already have a large inventory and wish to reduce friction in product finding, especially by supporting the 'Search & Discovery' app, while KOBU is better for stores wanting to emphasize key products via a familiar visual paradigm.
Common Questions
Which app is better for highlighting sale items?
KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight, with its menu badge feature for highlighting sales or new collections, is better suited for promoting sales directly within the visual navigation.
Which app is better for large product catalogs?
Snap Search: Live Search Layer is designed to handle larger catalogs more effectively by offering predictive search results across products, collections, pages, and blog posts, allowing customers to pinpoint their desired item faster.
Can both apps work together on the same store?
Yes, while they address different aspects of navigation, they can coexist. KOBU enhances visual menu navigation, while Snap Search improves the search functionality. However, merchants should ensure their design and placement do not conflict and maintain a cohesive user experience.
Which app requires more design customization?
KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight requires more design customization to fit the shop's aesthetic, as its focus is on visual menus with adjustable gap, width, margin, and custom CSS options. Snap Search provides pre-made designs, limiting customization.
Does Snap Search only search products, or other content as well?
Snap Search searches products, collections, pages, and blog posts, providing a comprehensive search experience for customers. KOBU focuses solely on collections, products, and links that a merchant manually includes in menus.
