KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight vs Spot Search, Filters & Merchfor Shopify (2026)
KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight and Spot Search, Filters & Merch both aim to improve navigation on Shopify stores but take fundamentally different approaches. KOBU focuses on visual menu enhancements, offering customizable circle or square menus for highlighting specific products, collections, or links. Its target audience is merchants looking for an Instagram-stories-like menu experience to reduce bounce rate and improve conversions through visually appealing navigation. Spot, on the other hand, is a powerful search and merchandising app designed to provide advanced control over product discovery. Spot is tailored for merchants who need sophisticated search functionality, collection curation tools, and merchandising capabilities, particularly those operating in multiple markets and languages. It emphasizes adaptability, fitting seamlessly into the existing store design and offering AI-tailored results. While KOBU's strength lies in visual appeal and ease of navigation, Spot excels in comprehensive search optimization and merchandising control for larger, more complex catalogs. The review count discrepancy suggests KOBU has a larger, although still modest, user base, potentially indicating broader appeal to smaller stores.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify stores seeking a visually appealing and easy-to-implement menu solution to improve navigation, KOBU ‑ Menu Highlight is the better choice. Its Instagram-like menu style can be effective in engaging customers and highlighting key products or collections. However, for larger, more established stores with complex product catalogs and international presence, Spot Search, Filters & Merch offers a more comprehensive solution. Its advanced search and merchandising capabilities, multilingual support, and AI-powered results are crucial for optimizing product discovery and driving conversions.
While both apps aim to improve the customer experience, they cater to very different needs and scales. Merchants should carefully consider their specific requirements and growth goals before making a decision. The low review count for Spot, despite its strong feature set, warrants further investigation and potentially a trial period to ensure it meets their expectations.
