Koin Cashback & Store Credit vs UnumPayfor Shopify (2026)
Koin Cashback & Store Credit and UnumPay, while both categorized under Shopify Payments, address fundamentally different aspects of payment processing and customer retention. Koin focuses on leveraging Shopify-native store credit to build customer loyalty and drive repeat purchases through cashback and rewards programs. Its strength lies in its ability to automate reward issuance based on various customer actions and provide granular control over store credit management, targeting D2C and B2B (Shopify Plus) businesses. UnumPay, on the other hand, streamlines payment acceptance by offering a single integration point for over 40 global payment gateways. Its primary value proposition is simplifying payment operations, providing real-time visibility into payment performance, and facilitating advance payments. The core difference is Koin focuses on *spending* existing revenue for retention, while UnumPay focuses on *accepting* revenue from more sources. Koin targets merchants seeking to improve customer loyalty and drive repeat purchases through cashback and rewards, particularly those with established customer bases and Shopify Plus accounts. UnumPay caters to merchants who need to integrate multiple payment gateways, manage diverse payment flows, and gain real-time insights into payment processing efficiency. The choice between the two depends entirely on whether the merchant's primary need is customer retention through rewards or simplified payment gateway management.

Our Verdict
If your goal is to enhance customer loyalty and drive repeat business by offering cashback and rewards programs using Shopify-native store credit, Koin Cashback & Store Credit is the clear choice, especially if you're using Shopify Plus for B2B operations. The app's higher rating and greater number of reviews, plus its specific feature set targeting loyalty and retention, suggest a stronger focus on this area. However, if your primary concern is integrating multiple payment gateways to expand payment options and streamline payment management, UnumPay is the better solution. Its ability to connect to 40+ gateways and provide real-time payment insights makes it well-suited for businesses dealing with complex payment processing needs. For merchants needing both, consider using them in conjunction, but prioritize based on your most pressing need.
