Our Verdict
The choice between MakeGift and SWAQ depends heavily on the merchant's objectives. If the primary goal is to tap into the social gifting market and expand the product reach by enabling e-gifts, MakeGift is the clear winner. Its seamless integration with OMS/WMS systems makes it suitable for larger operations with established logistics. However, if the focus is on enhancing the customer experience, fostering deeper engagement, and leveraging the emotional power of gifting for marketing, SWAQ is the more appropriate choice. SWAQ is especially useful for businesses wanting to add a personal touch to their existing gifting processes. Merchants with physical stores or established 3PL partnerships would find SWAQ to be a better fit.
Both apps offer compelling value, but they cater to different needs. While both apps share the Gift-Other category, their feature set, intended purpose, and focus are divergent. Weighing these factors against your business goals will point you towards the best selection for your store.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
MakeGift emphasizes its no-code implementation of e-gift functionality, potentially making it simpler to set up for merchants without coding expertise. SWAQ's setup involves integrating with packing slips and potentially 3PL, which might require some technical configuration.
Which app is better for larger businesses with complex logistics?
MakeGift's integration with OMS and WMS systems suggests it's designed to handle the complexities of larger businesses. SWAQ, while 3PL compatible, doesn't explicitly mention similar integrations.
Which app offers a more personalized gifting experience?
SWAQ, with its focus on video messages, delivers a more personalized gifting experience. The videos add a human touch that a standard e-gift might lack.
Which app is more likely to drive organic marketing and referrals?
SWAQ, with its emphasis on shareable videos featuring the merchant's logo and a CTA, is more likely to drive organic marketing and referrals. The videos act as mini-advertisements that can be shared across social media.
Which app focuses more on acquiring new customers?
MakeGift focuses on acquiring new customers by enabling a new gifting method (e-gifts) and also collecting emails from gift recipients to increase marketing opportunities. While SWAQ can boost sales, its primary focus is on enhancing the gifting experience.
