MakeStories AI Story Builder vs Wixpa Google Ads Remarketingfor Shopify (2026)
MakeStories AI Story Builder and Wixpa Google Ads Remarketing both fall under the 'Advertising - Other' category on the Shopify app store, but they target fundamentally different aspects of online advertising. MakeStories AI Story Builder aims to enhance on-site engagement and SEO by automatically generating visually appealing, Instagram and Facebook-style product stories. Its core strength lies in leveraging AI to create content and providing an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop editor for customization, targeting merchants interested in improving product discovery and visual marketing. In contrast, Wixpa Google Ads Remarketing focuses on streamlining the often-complex process of setting up Google Ads retargeting tags, particularly dynamic retargeting. Its primary value proposition is simplified installation and automatic maintenance of the necessary code, removing the technical burden for merchants and ensuring compatibility with Google's evolving standards. The choice between these apps depends heavily on a merchant's specific needs and technical expertise. MakeStories targets merchants who want to enhance their store's visual appeal and product discoverability through engaging story formats, while Wixpa addresses the needs of merchants aiming to implement or improve their Google Ads retargeting campaigns without extensive coding knowledge. The significant difference in existing user feedback, with Wixpa having a perfect 5/5 rating based on 7 reviews and MakeStories having no reviews, provides an initial signal of Wixpa's established reliability. However, the lack of reviews for MakeStories could also represent an untapped potential if the AI-driven story generation meets merchant expectations.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing engaging visual content and enhanced product discovery directly on their Shopify store, MakeStories AI Story Builder offers an intriguing AI-driven solution. However, the lack of reviews presents a risk. Merchants should be aware that they will be early adopters and should proceed with caution. On the other hand, if the primary goal is to streamline Google Ads retargeting and eliminate the technical complexities associated with setting up and maintaining retargeting tags, Wixpa Google Ads Remarketing is the clear choice. Its existing positive reviews and focus on simplifying a specific, technically challenging task make it a reliable solution for merchants who want to improve their Google Ads performance without coding expertise.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your advertising strategy. If you want to improve on-site engagement and SEO with visuals, try MakeStories, but acknowledge the lack of social proof. If you struggle with Google Ads retargeting implementation, Wixpa is the better, safer bet.

Both apps claim to be easy to use with no coding required. MakeStories has a drag-and-drop editor, while Wixpa boasts one-click installation. Which app offers more direct control over the content displayed to customers?
MakeStories AI Story Builder provides more direct control over the content displayed to customers through its drag-and-drop editor, allowing for customization of stories. Wixpa focuses on the backend setup of Google Ads retargeting and content shown will depend on the Google Ads configuration.
Which app is more likely to provide long-term value for my store?
The long-term value depends on your business goals. If engaging on-site visuals are critical, MakeStories could be valuable, assuming its AI performs well. If I only have the budget for one, which should I choose?
If your store struggles with Google Ads retargeting setup or maintenance, choose Wixpa due to its proven track record. If you have those aspects covered and you're seeking to increase on-site engagement, consider MakeStories, but be aware of the risk associated with the absence of reviews.
