Makkpress ‑ Store Locator and Progus Store Locator Map both aim to help Shopify merchants add store locators to their online stores. Makkpress focuses on a simple, straightforward implementation, allowing merchants to embed a Google Map with custom pins and editable addresses. Our Verdict
Given the significant disparity in ratings and the breadth of features, Progus Store Locator Map appears to be the superior choice for most merchants. Its no-API key requirement, extensive customization options, and advanced analytics provide considerable value. However, Makkpress ‑ Store Locator might be suitable for a brand new store with very limited needs and technical expertise, who need a very simple, basic map integration, and are willing to overlook the low rating and lack of reviews. Even for them, the lack of features and poor reviews make Progus the better bet, assuming their budget can accommodate its pricing.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Progus boasts a 'No API Key required' feature, likely making it simpler to set up initially. Makkpress states 'easy-to-install' but may require configuring a Google Maps API key, adding complexity.
Which app is more scalable for a growing business?
Progus is undoubtedly more scalable, offering bulk import capabilities, advanced analytics, and multilingual support, features absent in Makkpress.
Which app provides more detailed customer insights?
Progus's 'Advanced analytics' clearly gives it the edge in providing insights into customer search behavior and location preferences. Makkpress provides no mention of analytics.
Which app allows for greater customization of the store locator?
Progus offers significantly more customization with '23k+ map styles plus custom markers, colors and fonts' compared to Makkpress's limited customization options for marker icons and address pop-ups.
Is there any reason to choose Makkpress over Progus?
Potentially if a merchant needs the absolute bare minimum functionality and finds the Progus interface overwhelming. However, the low rating and lack of reviews make it a risky choice considering Progus's superior features and strong reputation. The cost of the apps might be another factor.
