MultiPrice: Custom POS Pricing vs Product Samples by Lukefor Shopify (2026)
MultiPrice: Custom POS Pricing and Product Samples by Luke address entirely different needs for Shopify merchants. MultiPrice focuses on pricing consistency across online and physical Point of Sale (POS) locations. Its strength lies in managing pricing discrepancies to account for factors like overhead and local competition without relying on discount workarounds. It's targeted towards businesses operating both online and brick-and-mortar stores that require distinct pricing strategies for each channel. Product Samples by Luke, conversely, tackles the problem of customer uncertainty and potential returns. It empowers merchants to offer product samples, either free or at a reduced cost, to increase customer confidence and drive sales. This approach aims to improve customer satisfaction by allowing them to assess products before committing to a full-sized purchase. The app also provides detailed metrics for analyzing the effectiveness of the sample program. While both apps touch upon pricing, their core functionalities and target audiences are fundamentally distinct.

Our Verdict
If you're a merchant operating both an online store and a physical POS location and struggling to manage different pricing strategies effectively, MultiPrice: Custom POS Pricing is the clearer choice. Its focus on syncing pricing across channels while maintaining accurate checkout experiences is valuable.
On the other hand, if your primary concern is reducing returns, increasing sales, and improving customer satisfaction by allowing customers to try products before buying, Product Samples by Luke is more appropriate. The higher review count also indicates stronger user validation, although the low review count of MultiPrice makes it harder to assess.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a merchant selling only online?
Product Samples by Luke is likely more beneficial for a purely online merchant, as MultiPrice's core functionality is tied to POS integration.
Which app helps improve customer satisfaction?
Both apps can improve customer satisfaction, but in different ways. MultiPrice ensures customers at your POS pay expected prices, reducing in-store confusion. Product Samples directly addresses potential dissatisfaction by allowing for a 'try before you buy' experience.
Which app is easier to set up?
It's difficult to say definitively without user reviews discussing ease of setup. However, Product Samples by Luke, focusing on a single feature (offering samples) is likely simpler to configure initially, compared to MultiPrice which needs to manage pricing for all products across potentially multiple POS locations.
Do these apps integrate with other apps?
The descriptions don't explicitly mention integrations with other apps. MultiPrice mentions clean inventory and analytics which suggest at least internal integration within Shopify's systems. Further research into each app's documentation would be needed.
How will either app affect my Shopify reports?
MultiPrice claims to keep your analytics clean, suggesting its price changes don't clutter reports with artificial discounts. Product Samples mentions 'detailed app metrics', implying it provides specific reports related to sample orders and their conversion rates.
