OCT Hide Shipping Methods vs Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZipfor Shopify (2026)
OCT Hide Shipping Methods and Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip both address shipping customization on Shopify, but cater to distinct needs. OCT Hide Shipping Methods focuses on modifying existing shipping rates, enabling merchants to hide, sort, reorder, and rename rates based on cart and customer criteria. Its strength lies in simplifying the checkout experience by presenting only relevant shipping options and streamlining the selection process, primarily targeting merchants aiming for a cleaner and more user-friendly checkout flow. Conversely, Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip emphasizes the creation of custom shipping rates based on granular product, customer, and location data, including zipcode-specific rates and distance-based calculations. It requires Carrier Calculated Shipping API and is ideal for businesses requiring complex shipping rules, like those selling products with varying weights, sizes, or delivery requirements, and those offering local delivery and store pickup options.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking straightforward control over the display of existing shipping methods to improve checkout usability, OCT Hide Shipping Methods is a strong contender. Its condition-action rules allow for easy hiding, sorting, and renaming of rates based on simple criteria. However, if the priority is to define granular custom shipping rates based on product attributes, zip codes, or delivery distance, or if local delivery and store pickup with scheduled delivery dates are crucial, then Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip is the clear choice. Its robust feature set caters to complex shipping scenarios, albeit likely at the cost of increased setup complexity.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
OCT Hide Shipping Methods is likely easier to set up, as it focuses on modifying existing rates rather than creating entirely new, custom calculations.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but it may lead to conflicts. It's best to choose one based on your primary shipping needs. If you need to hide/sort existing rates and then apply more granular rules on top, it might work, but thorough testing is necessary.
Which app is better for offering local delivery?
Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip is definitively better for local delivery, offering features like time slot selection, order limits, and delivery date scheduling based on zip codes.
Does either app require a paid Shopify plan?
Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip requires Carrier Calculated Shipping API, which is usually available on higher-tier Shopify plans or as an add-on. OCT Hide Shipping Methods does not explicitly state such a requirement, so it may be compatible with more plans.
Which app is best for products with varying shipping costs by weight?
Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip appears more suitable, allowing incremental shipping by weight and quantity, offering finer-grained control over per-product shipping rates.
