Octo ‑ AI Stock Photos & Image vs Sherpas: Smart SEOfor Shopify (2026)
Octo ‑ AI Stock Photos & Image and Sherpas: Smart SEO, while both sharing the 'Image editor' Shopify category, serve vastly different purposes for Shopify merchants. Octo focuses on generating AI-powered stock photos for various marketing needs, promising commercially owned images. In contrast, Sherpas: Smart SEO concentrates on optimizing a store's SEO performance, aiming to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic. Their core functionalities cater to different areas of e-commerce management: content creation vs. search engine optimization. Octo's value proposition hinges on providing quick and easily generated visuals for blogs, ads, and storefronts. It aims to reduce the time and resources spent on sourcing stock photos. Sherpas targets merchants who want to improve their website's discoverability and organic reach. It automates SEO tasks like meta tag generation, image optimization, and link management, leveraging AI to enhance these processes. The huge difference in rating and number of reviews also suggests a far more mature and well received product with Sherpas: Smart SEO. In a saturated app market, user trust and proven results are key. Because both apps utilize image optimization, the choice between them becomes critical for budget conscious store owners. While some SEO apps also include image manipulation, the same is true for AI image generation apps, where some also offer basic SEO optimization.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily struggling with creating visually appealing marketing content and needing a quick solution for images, Octo ‑ AI Stock Photos & Image could be a good starting point, *if* its AI capabilities deliver quality results. However, the lack of reviews makes it a risky choice. For merchants focused on long-term growth and improving their store's visibility in search results, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the clear winner. Its high rating and substantial number of reviews indicate a reliable and effective solution for SEO optimization.
Given the importance of SEO for driving organic traffic and sales, especially in 2026, Sherpas provides a more substantial and proven return on investment. While visual content is important, a beautifully designed store that no one can find is ultimately ineffective. Therefore, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the stronger recommendation for most Shopify merchants.
