Optimal A/B Testing vs Zigpoll Customer Surveysfor Shopify (2026)
Optimal A/B Testing and Zigpoll Customer Surveys, while both listed under the 'Analytics' category on Shopify, serve vastly different purposes and target distinct segments of e-commerce merchants. Optimal A/B Testing focuses on optimizing product listings through automated A/B testing of prices, images, titles, and descriptions. Its strength lies in its 'set it and forget it' automation and real-time analytics tailored for improving product page conversion and profitability. It aims to enhance existing traffic's value by refining product presentation. In contrast, Zigpoll Customer Surveys centers on gathering customer insights through various survey types (post-purchase, pre-purchase, NPS, etc.) delivered on-site, via email, or SMS. Its power resides in its extensive customization options, multilingual support, abandoned cart recovery features, and AI-powered analytics to improve overall business strategy, marketing spend, and conversion rates. The key difference lies in their approach to improving sales. Optimal A/B Testing uses data from controlled experiments on product listings to refine them for maximum impact. Zigpoll focuses on understanding customer motivations, pain points, and satisfaction through surveys, providing a broader view of the customer journey and informing decisions beyond just product page optimization. The ideal user for Optimal A/B Testing is a merchant actively seeking to optimize their product listings for higher conversions, while Zigpoll suits merchants wanting to deeply understand their customer base and improve the overall customer experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing the presentation of their product listings and increasing conversion rates directly from product pages, Optimal A/B Testing is the more suitable choice. Its automated A/B testing features and real-time analytics allow for a data-driven approach to product page optimization. The low number of reviews should, however, be considered - it's a newer or less popular app and may have undiscovered issues.
If, however, a merchant is looking for a more holistic understanding of their customers' needs, pain points, and overall satisfaction, and wants to use this information to inform broader business decisions, marketing strategies, and improve the overall customer experience, Zigpoll Customer Surveys is the better option. The larger number of reviews suggest it is a more established and trusted solution. It’s a powerful tool for gathering zero-party data and extracting actionable insights.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim to have easy, no-code setup, but Zigpoll's description emphasizes 'setup in seconds', suggesting potentially faster initial configuration. However, Optimal A/B Testing might require more time to configure specific A/B tests.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Optimal A/B Testing is designed to directly increase sales by optimizing product listings. Zigpoll increases sales indirectly by improving customer experience and business strategy based on survey insights.
Do these apps integrate with other marketing tools?
The description for Zigpoll mentions seamless integrations with Shopify and the merchant's marketing stack. Optimal A/B Testing's description doesn't explicitly mention integrations beyond Shopify's coded framework.
Which app requires more ongoing management?
Optimal A/B Testing, with its 'set it and forget it' automation, might require less daily management after the initial setup of tests. Zigpoll likely requires more active management, as merchants need to design, deploy, and analyze survey results continually.
Which app provides more general insights about my business?
Zigpoll Customer Surveys provides broader business insights by gathering feedback from customers about their experiences, needs, and opinions. Optimal A/B Testing provides specific insights related to product listing performance only.
