Outify vs Serializer ‑ Product Trackingfor Shopify (2026)
Outify and Serializer ‑ Product Tracking are both Shopify apps categorized under "Inventory - Other," but they address entirely different merchant needs. Outify focuses on automating inventory visibility by hiding out-of-stock products and automatically republishing them when restocked. Its primary strength lies in preventing lost sales due to unavailable items and improving customer experience by showing only available products. The target audience for Outify is merchants concerned with managing product visibility and avoiding the frustration of customers encountering out-of-stock items. Serializer, on the other hand, centers on tracking individual sold items using serial numbers and custom fields. Its strength is in providing detailed information about sold products, enabling easy searching of orders, customer data, and item specifics. Serializer targets merchants who require granular tracking of their inventory, such as those selling serialized items, managing warranties, or needing to trace products back to suppliers or batches. The critical distinction lies in their core functionality. Outify is about automated *presentation* of inventory, while Serializer is about detailed *tracking* of individual items. Outify promises a hands-off approach to inventory management, improving the storefront experience, whereas Serializer requires active input of serial numbers or other details to be effective but provides a powerful search and tracking capability. Given their different functionalities, merchants should carefully evaluate their specific needs before choosing one over the other. The app rating and number of reviews for Serializer is significantly higher and should be taken into consideration.

Our Verdict
Outify is the better choice for merchants who prioritize a seamless storefront experience by automatically hiding out-of-stock items. It's ideal for businesses that want a hands-off approach to managing inventory visibility, ensuring customers only see available products. However, the lack of reviews is concerning.
Serializer ‑ Product Tracking is the superior choice for merchants who need to track individual items with serial numbers or other custom data. If you sell products requiring warranty management, batch tracking, or supplier identification, Serializer's detailed tracking capabilities are invaluable. While it requires manual data entry, it provides robust search and reporting features not offered by Outify. The higher rating and positive reviews, albeit limited, provide more confidence than Outify's lack of reviews.
