PaperDay ‑ Simple Team Notes vs Ting ‑ Slack Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
PaperDay ‑ Simple Team Notes and Ting ‑ Slack Notifications both aim to improve team communication and workflow for Shopify merchants, but approach it from vastly different angles. PaperDay is a lightweight, internal task management tool designed for teams who prefer a simple, visual approach akin to a physical notebook. It focuses on individual and team task organization within the Shopify admin, emphasizing ease of use and minimal setup. Ting, on the other hand, focuses on external communication, specifically delivering Shopify order notifications and reports directly to Slack channels. Ting aims to keep teams updated on sales activity and key metrics in real-time, enabling faster responses to customer orders and potential issues. It's designed for merchants who actively use Slack for team communication and want to centralize their order information within that platform. While both fall under the "Staff notifications" category, PaperDay targets internal task management, while Ting focuses on order-related information pushed to Slack.

Our Verdict
The choice between PaperDay and Ting depends heavily on a merchant's existing workflow and priorities. If a team struggles with disorganized tasks and prefers a simple, visual solution within Shopify, PaperDay is likely a better fit, despite its low review count. However, merchants who heavily rely on Slack for team communication and want immediate order updates should strongly consider Ting.
Ting's higher review count suggests greater adoption and potentially more reliability. If a merchant is already invested in Slack, the streamlined order notifications offered by Ting are invaluable. For merchants NOT using Slack or that simply need help with task management, PaperDay is the better choice. Consider testing both if you're unsure, bearing in mind the difference in user feedback volume.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
PaperDay boasts instant usability with no setup required, making it the simplest to get started. Ting requires a one-click setup process to connect to Slack, still relatively easy, but not as seamless as PaperDay.
Which app is better for a large team?
Ting may scale better with larger teams that already use Slack. The ability to push order updates to multiple channels and customize notifications can be beneficial for larger, segmented teams. PaperDay's simplicity might make it unwieldy for very large or complex teams.
Does PaperDay offer notifications outside of the app itself?
Based on the provided information, PaperDay appears to be self-contained within the Shopify admin and does not offer external notifications. Ting, by design, specifically provides notifications through Slack.
Can Ting be used for tasks besides order management?
According to the description, Ting is solely focused on delivering order notifications and reports. It is not intended for general task management or note-taking.
Which app has more active development?
Without access to update logs or external data, it's impossible to determine which app has more active development. However, the higher review count of Ting *could* suggest more ongoing user engagement and potentially more frequent updates.
