Pay Later, Split Pay ‑ Cypher vs PayProofyfor Shopify (2026)
Pay Later, Split Pay ‑ Cypher and PayProofy address distinct payment workflow challenges on Shopify. Cypher focuses on providing flexible payment options directly to customers, such as partial payments, deposits, and delayed payment schedules (NET30), particularly aimed at high-value or made-to-order product businesses. It automates reminders and charges, integrating with the theme customize for easy management. In contrast, PayProofy tackles the specific issue of verifying bank transfer or wallet payments. It allows customers to upload proof-of-payment slips that are then automatically matched to orders, streamlining the reconciliation process. The core difference lies in their problem domain: Cypher aims to increase sales by offering varied payment plans, while PayProofy targets operational efficiency by automating payment verification. Therefore, Pay Later, Split Pay - Cypher would serve merchants aiming to improve conversion rates through flexible payment while PayProofy focuses on businesses handling significant volumes of manual bank transfers or e-wallet payments. The maturity of the apps is also a major difference; Cypher has a few ratings and reviews, demonstrating initial user adoption, while PayProofy is a new app, with no ratings and reviews. Therefore, its reliability cannot be tested or proven.

Our Verdict
For merchants focused on increasing sales by offering payment flexibility, Pay Later, Split Pay - Cypher is the more suitable choice, especially if they sell high-value goods or pre-orders. The automated reminders and balance charging features can significantly reduce administrative overhead. The current rating shows users seem happy with the service. On the other hand, PayProofy is ideal for merchants who primarily handle bank transfers or e-wallet payments and struggle with the manual effort of verifying payment confirmations. It automates a tedious process, freeing up resources for other tasks. Given the current lack of reviews for PayProofy, merchants might want to proceed with caution and thoroughly test the app before fully integrating it into their workflow.
