Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing visually appealing product images without the budget for professional photography, ProdShot offers a potentially useful AI-driven solution, although the very limited number of reviews and low rating raise some concerns. However, given the low number of reviews, the rating may not be fully representative. Sherpas: Smart SEO is the clear choice for merchants focused on improving their store's SEO. The overwhelming number of positive reviews and comprehensive feature set, including AI-powered meta tag generation and image optimization, makes it a more reliable and robust option for driving organic traffic and sales.
Ultimately, the choice depends on the merchant's primary need. If product photography is the immediate hurdle, and the merchant is willing to beta test a new solution, ProdShot might be worth exploring. However, for a solid, proven solution focused on SEO improvement, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the superior choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps claim to be easy to use. ProdShot focuses on simplicity with a few clicks, while Sherpas automates complex SEO tasks. Based on the description and feature set, ProdShot is likely easier for complete beginners regarding photo editing, but Sherpas simplifies what would otherwise be difficult SEO tasks.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
While ProdShot can indirectly increase sales by improving product visuals, Sherpas: Smart SEO is more directly aimed at increasing sales by boosting organic traffic through better SEO. Higher search engine rankings and optimized website performance translate into more potential customers finding and purchasing from the store.
Do both apps use AI?
Yes, both apps leverage AI, but in different ways. ProdShot uses AI for image enhancement and editing, while Sherpas: Smart SEO utilizes AI (specifically ChatGPT-4 Turbo) for generating meta tags and alt tags.
Which app offers a better return on investment (ROI)?
It's difficult to definitively say without knowing specific store circumstances. However, Sherpas: Smart SEO, with its focus on SEO and the potential for increased organic traffic, is likely to offer a better long-term ROI for most stores compared to ProdShot, which addresses a more niche aspect of e-commerce.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, these apps can theoretically be used together. A merchant could use ProdShot to create high-quality product photos and then use Sherpas: Smart SEO to optimize those images and the store overall for search engines. However, given the review disparities and distinct focus, one might invest in Sherpas, and use built-in Shopify photo editing or free online tools instead of ProdShot.
