Product connector vs Smart Size Chart & Size Guidefor Shopify (2026)
Product Connector and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide, while sharing the 'Custom products' category on Shopify, address entirely different needs for merchants. Product Connector focuses on improving the product discovery process by allowing merchants to group related products with different SKUs as if they were variants. This is particularly useful for vendors who have products with multiple color or size options spread across different SKUs, helping customers easily find their desired variation without navigating away from the product page. Smart Size Chart & Size Guide, on the other hand, is designed to reduce returns and increase sales by providing customers with clear and customizable size charts. It helps customers find their perfect fit, primarily targeting apparel, shoes, and jewelry merchants. Product Connector emphasizes product organization, while Smart Size Chart prioritizes size information and customer satisfaction. This results in two completely different value propositions. One ensures customers can find what they want from a potentially messy list, and the other minimizes returns due to incorrect sizing.

Our Verdict
The choice between Product Connector and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide hinges entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If a merchant struggles with disorganized product listings where variations are scattered across multiple SKUs, and customers are having difficulty finding the specific variant they want, Product Connector is the clear choice. It prioritizes streamlining the product discovery process by acting as a 'variant connector'. If, however, the merchant sells apparel, shoes, or accessories and is concerned about returns due to incorrect sizing, Smart Size Chart & Size Guide is far more relevant. It provides a visually appealing and informative size chart that caters to customers looking for the right fit. Given the limited reviews for Product Connector, merchants may want to investigate further or consider trialing both apps (if available) to determine the best fit.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on descriptions, both apps aim for ease of use. However, Product Connector requires merchants to identify and link products by SKU, barcode, or title, which might involve some manual effort. Smart Size Chart offers templates and visual customization, which could be perceived as more intuitive, but depends on the user.
Which app is more likely to impact sales directly?
Smart Size Chart & Size Guide is directly aimed at increasing sales by reducing returns and helping customers find the right fit. Product Connector can improve the shopping experience and potentially lead to more sales by making it easier to find the desired variant, but its impact might be less direct.
Can both apps be used together on the same Shopify store?
Yes, the apps address entirely different functionalities and can coexist on the same store. A store selling clothing might use Product Connector to link related items and Smart Size Chart to provide sizing information.
Is one app better for mobile users?
Smart Size Chart explicitly mentions responsive design for mobile, desktop, and tablets. Product Connector mentions seamless integration with Shopify 2.0 themes, which are generally responsive, but it doesn't specifically call out mobile optimization as a key feature.
Which app provides more value to customers?
Both apps provide value, but to different customer segments. Product Connector improves the product discovery experience for customers looking for specific variations. Smart Size Chart prevents frustration and returns by ensuring customers find the correct size, which is particularly valuable in online clothing and shoe shopping.
