Rave: Referral, Affiliate, UGC vs Velocity: Commission Mapsfor Shopify (2026)
Rave: Referral, Affiliate, UGC and Velocity: Commission Maps both operate within the affiliate programs category on Shopify, but cater to distinctly different merchant needs. Rave focuses on incentivizing customer referrals, affiliate marketing, and user-generated content (UGC) through cash rewards and free gifts, aiming to transform regular shoppers into brand advocates and content creators. Velocity, on the other hand, centers around streamlining commission structures and managing sales teams effectively, especially for businesses with field sales representatives needing territory mapping and order management tools. Rave's key strength lies in its integrated approach to referral, affiliate, and UGC campaigns, providing automated management and a gamified incentive structure. Velocity's power is its ability to manage sales territories, commissions, and sales representatives within Shopify, offering custom visibility and efficient order placement through a dedicated sales portal. While Rave aims to boost organic growth through customer engagement, Velocity targets improved sales force management and operational efficiency. The review count difference (14 vs 3) suggests Rave might have a broader initial appeal or longer market presence. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on the merchant's primary goal: increasing organic reach and customer advocacy through incentivized programs (Rave), or optimizing sales team performance through territory management and streamlined commission structures (Velocity).

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants looking to amplify their marketing efforts through customer referrals, affiliate programs, and user-generated content, Rave: Referral, Affiliate, UGC is the clear choice. Its focus on incentivizing participation with cash rewards and free gifts, coupled with its gamified approach and automated management, makes it an attractive option for building brand advocacy and driving organic growth. The higher number of reviews, while not definitive, suggests a broader adoption and potentially a longer track record of success.
However, if the primary concern is streamlining sales team operations, managing commission structures, and enabling field sales representatives to efficiently onboard customers and place orders, Velocity: Commission Maps is the superior solution. Its dedicated sales portal, territory mapping capabilities, and commission automation tools address the specific needs of businesses with direct sales forces. Businesses employing both strategies could potentially benefit from using both apps in conjunction, but their core functionalities are quite distinct and serve different areas of the business.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Rave claims a simple configuration, suggesting it may be easier to initially set up. Velocity's setup complexity likely depends on the intricacy of the commission structure and sales territory map.
Can both apps be used together?
Potentially, but their functionalities are largely separate. Rave focuses on external customer engagement, while Velocity focuses on internal sales team management. There might be limited integration possibilities depending on the specific business needs.
Which app is better for a small, bootstrapped business?
Rave might be more suitable initially for a small business, as it can leverage existing customers for growth through referrals. Velocity would be more beneficial as the business scales and develops a dedicated sales team.

The provided descriptions do not specify if either app offers a free plan. Merchants would need to check the app listings directly in the Shopify App Store to confirm pricing details and availability of free plans or trials.
Which app offers better long-term scalability?
Velocity likely offers better scalability for businesses with expanding sales teams and complex commission structures, while Rave offers scalability for growing customer bases and UGC initiatives.
