Recomatic Related Products vs Shopchat: AI Search Assistantfor Shopify (2026)
Recomatic Related Products and Shopchat: AI Search Assistant both aim to improve sales through enhanced store navigation and product discovery, but they employ drastically different approaches. Recomatic focuses on automating and optimizing related product recommendations using sales data and product attributes, presenting them in a visually appealing way within the theme. It targets merchants looking for a proven, data-driven solution to boost conversions via strategically placed related products, backed by detailed performance reporting and customization options. Shopchat, on the other hand, leverages AI, specifically ChatGPT 4, to provide a personalized search and product discovery experience through a conversational interface. Shopchat caters to merchants who believe in the power of AI-driven customer engagement and are comfortable with relying on an AI assistant to answer customer questions and recommend products. It aims to create a more interactive and personalized shopping experience, potentially appealing to customers seeking immediate and tailored assistance. However, as a newer app, it lacks user reviews and a proven track record compared to Recomatic. The choice between the two hinges on whether a merchant prioritizes established performance and data-driven recommendations (Recomatic) or a more innovative, AI-powered interactive experience (Shopchat).

Our Verdict
Recomatic Related Products is the safer bet for merchants looking for a tried-and-true solution to improve product discovery and increase sales through optimized related product recommendations. Its established positive rating and user reviews indicate reliability and effectiveness. It's a good choice for merchants who want a data-driven, customizable, and easy-to-implement solution. Shopchat: AI Search Assistant, while promising, is a riskier choice. It may appeal to merchants who are early adopters and believe in the power of AI to personalize the shopping experience, but they should be aware of the lack of user feedback and the potential challenges of relying on AI for customer interactions. For merchants with a smaller catalog and a need for extensive customer support, Shopchat could be worth exploring after more reviews become available.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim ease of installation. Recomatic states it can be added directly from the theme editor, while Shopchat claims no technical skills are required. Given Recomatic's existing positive reviews, it likely has a more streamlined process, but this should be confirmed with Shopchat's documentation.
Which app offers more granular control over recommendations?
Recomatic allows manual fine-tuning of the recommendation logic, offering more direct control. Shopchat allows customization of the AI's behavior, which offers a more indirect control and depends on the quality of the AI training.
Which app is more likely to scale as my product catalog grows?
Recomatic's automated approach, driven by data and attributes, is inherently scalable. Shopchat's scalability depends on the AI's ability to effectively process a large and diverse product catalog, which is difficult to predict without testing.
Which app provides better insights into customer behavior?
Both apps offer reporting features. Recomatic provides detailed conversion tracking, specifically measuring the impact of related product suggestions. Shopchat tracks interactions and recommendations made by the AI assistant, offering a broader view of customer inquiries and AI-driven engagements.
Which app is better for improving average order value (AOV)?
Recomatic, with its related product focus, is directly designed to increase AOV by encouraging customers to add more items to their cart. Shopchat can indirectly influence AOV by recommending complementary products, but its primary function is answering questions and guiding customers through the purchase process.
