Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO and RT: Smooth Scroll To Top, while both categorized under 'Search and Navigation' and 'Search and navigation - Other' in the Shopify app store, address drastically different aspects of the online shopping experience. Redirect Pro focuses on backend SEO maintenance by detecting and automatically redirecting broken links (404 errors). This app is aimed at merchants concerned with preserving search engine rankings and providing a seamless user experience by avoiding dead-end pages. RT: Smooth Scroll To Top, on the other hand, is a front-end user experience enhancement tool, providing a 'scroll to top' button and optional progress bar for easy navigation on long pages, appealing to merchants who want to improve their site's usability and potentially increase conversions. Our Verdict
The choice between Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO and RT: Smooth Scroll To Top hinges on the merchant's specific needs. If SEO is a concern, particularly with frequent product updates or migrations, Redirect Pro is the clear choice. Its automation features and SEO focus address a critical backend challenge.
However, for merchants primarily focused on improving the front-end user experience, especially on stores with long product descriptions, blog posts, or collection pages, RT: Smooth Scroll To Top is the superior option. Its simplicity, ease of installation, and customization options offer a quick win in terms of user navigation and convenience, evidenced by its higher rating and larger number of reviews. A theme with built in scroll-to-top functionality negates the need for Smooth Scroll To Top.
