RT: Smooth Scroll To Top vs Shopchat: AI Search Assistantfor Shopify (2026)
RT: Smooth Scroll To Top addresses a specific UI/UX need by adding or enhancing a 'scroll to top' button functionality to Shopify stores, particularly those lacking it in their theme. Its strength lies in its simplicity and customizability, providing an easy way for customers to navigate long pages. It targets merchants whose themes lack this feature and who want to improve user experience and potentially increase conversions. In contrast, Shopchat: AI Search Assistant aims to revolutionize customer interaction by integrating ChatGPT 4 to provide AI-powered product recommendations and answer customer questions directly on the storefront, targeting merchants looking to automate customer service and personalize the shopping experience, ultimately boosting sales. The core difference is that Smooth Scroll To Top focuses on a basic navigation enhancement, a UI convenience, while Shopchat is a much more ambitious AI-powered sales and customer service tool. Smooth Scroll To Top is designed for easy installation and customization with no technical skills. Shopchat also emphasizes ease of use, aiming to let merchants customize both the look and feel and the AI behavior without code. While both fall under 'Search and navigation', they tackle vastly different aspects of it. One handles page navigation in a traditional sense, while the other implements intelligent product and information discovery using AI. Given the difference in features and purpose, the target audience for each app is quite different. While Smooth Scroll To Top would benefit any merchant whose store's theme does not include the scroll-to-top function, Shopchat will be particularly useful to larger storefronts with large catalogs, or merchants facing high volumes of customer inquiries. The ratings and review counts present a major difference too. It should be noted that in 2026, having AI powered chat features might be standard or expected, potentially impacting the viability of scroll to top features.

Our Verdict
For merchants with themes already including solid navigation and customer service options, and particularly those with limited budgets, RT: Smooth Scroll To Top offers a simple and effective way to ensure users can easily navigate long pages. It's a targeted solution for a specific need. However, for merchants seeking to invest in next-generation customer engagement and sales automation, and who are comfortable with a potentially higher learning curve, Shopchat: AI Search Assistant presents a much more powerful and potentially transformative solution. Its success hinges on the AI's accuracy and the quality of integration, but it offers a fundamentally different and more ambitious approach to customer interaction.
Given the available data, it's difficult to definitively recommend Shopchat, as it has no user reviews. However, if the AI functions as described and is reliable, Shopchat has greater potential to impact sales and customer satisfaction, especially considering how advanced AI integration might be in 2026.
