Sales Motivator ‑ Free Gifts vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
Sales Motivator ‑ Free Gifts and Selling Point, while both listed under the 'Gifts' category in Shopify, serve fundamentally different purposes. Sales Motivator focuses on incentivizing purchases by offering free gifts based on cart value, product selection, or customer segment. It's an upsell tool designed to increase average order value and conversion rates. Selling Point, on the other hand, addresses the challenge of migrating existing gift card and store credit balances from other platforms (POS systems or websites) to Shopify. It streamlines the process of bringing these legacy balances into the Shopify ecosystem, avoiding manual data entry or custom development. Sales Motivator appeals to merchants seeking to actively boost sales through strategic gift promotions. It offers customization options for gift offer design and condition settings. Selling Point, conversely, targets merchants transitioning to Shopify or integrating multiple sales channels who need a seamless solution for migrating gift card and store credit data. While both apps can indirectly increase sales, one is proactive in generating new sales through promotional offers, while the other is reactive in managing existing customer value held in gift cards or store credit from external systems.
