Sherpas: Smart SEO vs SpurIT SEO Image Optimizerfor Shopify (2026)
Sherpas: Smart SEO and SpurIT SEO Image Optimizer both aim to improve a Shopify store's SEO and overall performance, but they approach the task from different angles and target different segments of merchants. Sherpas: Smart SEO positions itself as a comprehensive SEO solution, utilizing AI (ChatGPT-4 Turbo) to address various aspects of SEO, including meta tags, image optimization, link building, and structured data. It aims to simplify complex SEO tasks with automation and a user-friendly interface. SpurIT SEO Image Optimizer, on the other hand, focuses specifically on image optimization, including resizing, compression, and alt text generation, with a stated goal of speeding up the store and enhancing SEO through optimized images. It focuses solely on product images and not overall SEO health. The key difference lies in the scope of functionalities. Sherpas: Smart SEO provides a holistic SEO solution with various features going beyond just image optimization, while SpurIT SEO Image Optimizer is specialized and focuses on improving the images of products only. Given that SpurIT only focuses on product images, the target customer would be store owners looking for streamlined product image optimization. Sherpas, being a more encompassing solution, would appeal to store owners seeking to manage all their SEO needs in one place. The review counts suggest a much wider adoption and user base for Sherpas: Smart SEO.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a complete, AI-powered SEO solution that handles various aspects beyond image optimization, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the clear choice. Its comprehensive features, high rating, and large user base suggest a robust and effective tool for improving overall SEO performance. It's especially suited for merchants who find SEO intimidating and prefer automated solutions. However, if the primary concern is optimizing product images to improve store speed and SEO related to those images, and the budget is a constraint, SpurIT SEO Image Optimizer provides a focused solution, though with a smaller user base and lower rating.
In essence, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the premium, all-in-one option, while SpurIT SEO Image Optimizer is a more targeted and potentially more affordable solution for merchants primarily concerned with product image optimization. The choice depends on the specific needs and priorities of the Shopify merchant.
