Sherpas: Smart SEO vs The AMP appfor Shopify (2026)
Sherpas: Smart SEO and The AMP app both aim to improve SEO for Shopify stores, but they approach the problem from different angles and target different merchant profiles. Sherpas: Smart SEO positions itself as a comprehensive SEO solution using AI to automate and simplify complex tasks like meta tag generation, image optimization, and link management. It caters to merchants looking for an all-in-one tool to improve their overall SEO performance. The AMP app, while not explicitly stated, focuses on improving website speed. AMP is designed to improve webpage speed and boost sales. The much higher number of reviews of the Sherpas: Smart SEO app indicates that it's a more popular and established product. Because SEO can be technical, smaller merchants who are intimidated by SEO may prefer the automation and AI-driven approach of Sherpas: Smart SEO. The AMP app is designed for SEOs who understand the value of AMP or merchants with SEO teams who may handle most of the other tasks. Merchants with larger product catalogs might benefit more from the automated meta tag and alt tag generation in Sherpas: Smart SEO. Given the limited data on The AMP app's features, it's unclear if it offers similar capabilities. Choosing between the two depends heavily on the merchant's SEO expertise, the complexity of their product catalog, and their specific priorities regarding website speed and all-around SEO optimization.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify stores or merchants without dedicated SEO expertise, Sherpas: Smart SEO offers a more complete and user-friendly solution. The AI-powered features and automated tasks simplify SEO, making it accessible to a broader audience. If page speed is a high priority and you have the technical expertise to implement and manage AMP, or have an SEO team that handles this, then The AMP app could be a worthwhile investment. However, Sherpas: Smart SEO's holistic approach to SEO, higher rating, and significantly more reviews suggest it's a more reliable and proven solution for most Shopify merchants seeking to improve their search engine visibility and drive organic traffic.
