Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip vs Smart Zipcode Trackerfor Shopify (2026)
Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip and Smart Zipcode Tracker both address delivery concerns for Shopify merchants, but they serve distinct purposes. ShipZip is a comprehensive shipping rules engine focused on calculating custom shipping rates based on various parameters, including product attributes, customer location (zip code/postcode, distance), and cart contents. It targets merchants who need granular control over their shipping costs and offer diverse delivery options like local delivery with time slots and date selection, catering particularly to businesses like bakeries and flower shops. Smart Zipcode Tracker, conversely, focuses primarily on validating delivery zones by checking customer zip codes against a predefined list, preventing orders from non-serviceable areas. It is designed for merchants who have strict delivery boundaries and want to ensure efficient deliveries by disabling the "Add to Cart" and "Buy It Now" buttons for ineligible zip codes.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing precise control over shipping costs, diverse delivery options like local delivery with date selection, and the ability to create complex shipping rules based on product and location, Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip is the superior choice. Its high rating and large number of reviews suggest strong user satisfaction. However, the app requires Carrier Calculated Shipping API.
If the primary concern is simply preventing orders from outside a defined service area, and a merchant wants a straightforward zip code validation solution, Smart Zipcode Tracker is a more targeted, simpler option. While its rating is lower and review count is significantly less, it addresses a specific need effectively. It is the correct solution for merchants that offer limited delivery options and want to avoid fulfilling any orders outside their service area.
