Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip vs Zipcode Checker ‑ Zipproverfor Shopify (2026)
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip and Zipcode Checker ‑ Zipprover both aim to improve the delivery experience for Shopify merchants in 2026, but they address very different aspects. ShipZip focuses on advanced, customizable shipping rate calculations and delivery rules, allowing merchants to define precise shipping costs based on a wide range of factors like product attributes, customer location (zipcode/postcode, distance), and delivery date. In contrast, Zipprover is primarily a zipcode checker designed to enhance the pre-purchase experience by informing customers about delivery availability and estimated timelines before they add items to their cart. ShipZip appears geared towards merchants with complex shipping needs, such as those offering a diverse product catalog, requiring nuanced rate structures (e.g., incremental weight-based charges, surcharges), or providing local delivery and store pickup options. Zipprover, on the other hand, targets merchants seeking to improve customer satisfaction and reduce order errors by providing transparent delivery information upfront. The key differentiator lies in ShipZip's emphasis on *calculating* the correct shipping rate versus Zipprover's focus on *informing* the customer about delivery feasibility and timing.

Our Verdict
For merchants requiring highly customized and precise shipping rate calculations based on a multitude of factors like product attributes, customer location, and delivery date, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip is the clear choice. Its robust feature set allows for granular control over shipping costs and delivery options. This is particularly valuable for businesses with complex fulfillment needs, such as those offering local delivery, time-sensitive products, or a wide range of product types with varying shipping requirements.
However, if the primary goal is to improve customer satisfaction and reduce order errors by providing upfront information about delivery availability and estimated timelines, Zipcode Checker ‑ Zipprover is the better option. Its ease of use and focus on pre-purchase transparency make it ideal for merchants who want to proactively manage customer expectations and prevent orders from unsupported areas. Zipprover is excellent for businesses with simpler shipping needs that still want to proactively address potential delivery issues.
Common Questions
Does ShipZip offer zipcode checking?
Yes, ShipZip allows setting shipping rates by zipcode, but its primary focus is on calculating the shipping *cost* for those zipcodes, not simply checking for service availability.
Can Zipprover calculate shipping rates?
No, Zipprover focuses on checking delivery availability and providing estimated delivery timelines. It doesn't calculate shipping costs.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Zipprover is likely easier to set up for basic zipcode checking and delivery availability. ShipZip's advanced features may require more configuration.
Which app is better for local delivery businesses?
Both apps offer features for local delivery businesses. ShipZip allows more customization around shipping rates and order delivery dates. Zipprover allows customers to check if their location is serviceable for local delivery. The 'better' choice depends on the complexity of the business's needs.
Do either of these apps handle international shipping?
The descriptions don't explicitly mention international shipping. However, ShipZip's zipcode/postcode functionality *could* potentially be used for limited international regions. Zipprover is less suited for general international purposes.
