Shiptheory vs TrackShipfor Shopify (2026)
Shiptheory and TrackShip are both 5-star rated apps listed in the 'Shipping solutions - Other' category on the Shopify App Store, aiming to improve the shipping experience for merchants. However, they focus on different stages of the shipping process and target different merchant needs. Shiptheory emphasizes automation of the *pre-shipping* workflow, specifically booking shipments and creating labels with various carriers worldwide, while TrackShip centers on automating the *post-shipping* experience, focusing on tracking, customer communication, and building brand loyalty. Shiptheory boasts a significant number of reviews (53) compared to TrackShip (1), which implies a longer track record and potentially broader user base. Shiptheory's key strength lies in its direct integration with numerous carriers (including Royal Mail, UPS, FedEx, DPD) and its ability to create flexible shipping rules. This makes it appealing to businesses prioritizing efficient shipment booking and label generation. In contrast, TrackShip's selling point is its automated tracking and post-purchase customer engagement features, catering to merchants keen on improving customer satisfaction and reducing shipping-related inquiries.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing efficient shipment booking, label creation, and direct integration with a wide range of carriers, Shiptheory appears to be the stronger choice. Its focus on pre-shipping automation and substantial review count suggest it's a well-established solution for streamlining shipping processes.
On the other hand, TrackShip is ideal for stores that are especially concerned with the post-purchase experience. If reducing customer service inquiries, improving customer engagement after shipping, and fostering brand loyalty are top priorities, TrackShip's automated tracking and proactive delivery updates make it the more suitable option. Given the large difference in review volume, consider a trial period with both apps to assess their specific fit with your workflows.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a store that ships internationally?
Shiptheory is likely better as it emphasizes booking shipments with carriers worldwide and provides support and technical guidance for businesses of any size, facilitating international shipping setup. TrackShip tracks shipments across many carriers internationally, but doesn't directly enable booking.
Which app helps reduce customer service inquiries related to shipping?
TrackShip directly aims to reduce time spent on customer service by providing proactive delivery updates and automating post-shipping communications. Shiptheory helps with this indirectly by reducing errors in shipping.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Shiptheory emphasizes onboarding and technical support from experts for businesses of any size. TrackShip does not directly make that claim, and while it mentions automation, ease of initial setup is not directly addressed in the description.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store with limited budget?
Without pricing information, it's impossible to say which is better for a limited budget. Evaluate the pricing tiers and features of both apps to determine the most cost-effective option for your specific needs.
Which app offers better insights into shipping performance?
TrackShip focuses on providing customers with shipping information and may offer data on delivery success. Shiptheory focuses on automating the initial shipping process so it may have less data insights on that side. You'd need to review each app's documentation for specifics.
