SMSO ‑ Romanian SMS Gateway vs Ting ‑ Slack Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
SMSO ‑ Romanian SMS Gateway and Ting ‑ Slack Notifications address entirely different aspects of order tracking and merchant communication. SMSO focuses on direct communication with customers in Romania via SMS, offering real-time order updates and personalized text messages. Its strength lies in leveraging SMS's high open rates for direct engagement. However, it requires an existing SMSO RO account, adding complexity and potential costs. Ting, conversely, concentrates on internal team communication, providing instant order notifications and reports directly within Slack. Its strength is in streamlining internal workflows and keeping teams informed about order activity. The two apps are not directly comparable as one targets customer communication and the other targets internal team communication.

Our Verdict
The choice between SMSO ‑ Romanian SMS Gateway and Ting ‑ Slack Notifications depends entirely on the merchant's needs. SMSO is suitable for businesses in Romania seeking to leverage SMS marketing and order updates for direct customer engagement. However, the lack of reviews and the reliance on a separate SMSO RO account are significant drawbacks. Ting is ideal for merchants wanting to centralize order information within their Slack workspace, improving team collaboration and awareness. Its high rating and simple setup make it a more appealing option for businesses prioritizing internal communication and easy integration.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Ting claims a 'simple one-click setup,' while SMSO requires setting up an account with SMSO RO, suggesting Ting is easier to set up.
Which app is cheaper?
It's impossible to definitively say. SMSO involves app fees *plus* direct charges from SMSO RO for SMS usage. Ting's app pricing isn't specified, but it would only involve the app fees. The ultimate cost depends on SMS volume and Ting's pricing structure.
Does either app handle SMS billing?
No. SMSO ‑ Romanian SMS Gateway explicitly states that SMS usage fees are billed directly by SMSO RO and are not handled by the app itself. Ting does not handle SMS billing at all, as it uses Slack.
If I want to notify my customers about order updates, which app should I choose?
SMSO ‑ Romanian SMS Gateway is the only app of the two that provides customer notifications. Ting is designed for internal team notifications via Slack.
Can I use Ting to send SMS messages?
No, Ting sends notifications to Slack channels, not to SMS. To send SMS messages, you would need a service like SMSO (and an SMSO RO account).
