Store Credit vs Tence Add‑Onsfor Shopify (2026)
Store Credit and Tence Add-Ons are Shopify apps positioned very differently. Store Credit focuses narrowly on enabling merchants to issue and manage store credit, aiming to boost customer loyalty and repeat sales through incentives like product reviews, birthdays, and referrals. Key features include tracking credit history and controlling discount settings. Its target audience is merchants looking to implement a robust store credit program. On the other hand, Tence Add-Ons takes a broader approach, offering multiple theme enhancements bundled into one app. While it shares the 'Payments' category with Store Credit, its primary focus is on improving the customer experience through features like a smart top bar, installment payment options (implied), improved search functionality, and social media integration. The app caters to merchants wanting easy theme customizations without directly modifying theme files.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing customer retention and looking to implement a strategic store credit program with detailed tracking, Store Credit is the clear choice, despite its lack of initial reviews. The ability to issue and manage store credit, coupled with discount settings, provides a dedicated solution for this specific need.
However, if a merchant is primarily focused on enhancing their store's theme with features such as a smart top bar and installment payment options, and values ease of use without modifying theme files, Tence Add-Ons would be more suitable. The 'Payments' category overlap is misleading, as their core functionalities are distinct.
