Synchrony On‑Site Messaging vs Tence Add‑Onsfor Shopify (2026)
Synchrony On-Site Messaging and Tence Add-Ons both operate in the Payments category on Shopify, but cater to vastly different needs. Synchrony focuses specifically on integrating financing options like private label credit cards, Pay in 4, and Pay Monthly loans to increase customer purchasing power. It is aimed at merchants who want to offer flexible payment options to drive sales. Tence Add-Ons, conversely, provides a suite of theme enhancements like smart top bars, installment payment displays, and social media integration to improve the overall shopping experience and highlight advantages and payment conditions. The core difference lies in their functionality. Synchrony is a dedicated financing solution requiring an application and approval process with Synchrony. Tence Add-Ons offers general storefront improvements and added features with easy configuration. Merchants should choose based on whether they require specific financing integration (Synchrony) or a more broad set of theme enhancements (Tence Add-Ons). Both apps share the 'Payments' category on Shopify, but they address different aspects of it. Synchrony focuses on enabling payments through financing, while Tence Add-Ons focuses on highlighting payment options and conditions within the storefront.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to offer specific financing options such as private label credit cards or installment loans, Synchrony On-Site Messaging is the clear choice, assuming they meet Synchrony's approval requirements. Its focus is on providing customers with increased purchasing power through payment plans. However, given the extremely limited review data, caution is advised.
For merchants who are primarily focused on improving the overall shopping experience by adding features like smart top bars, highlighting advantages, and showcasing payment conditions without offering dedicated financing, Tence Add-Ons is a better fit. The app offers a broader set of enhancements without requiring external approvals. Again, it is important to note that only a single review exists for this app.
