Synchrony On‑Site Messaging vs TryOnify: Try Before You Buyfor Shopify (2026)
Synchrony On-Site Messaging and TryOnify: Try Before You Buy both fall under the Shopify 'Payments' category, but cater to distinctly different needs and target different merchants. Synchrony aims to boost sales by offering customers various financing options at the point of purchase, including private label credit cards and installment loans. It focuses on increasing purchasing power through financing. TryOnify, on the other hand, presents a "Try Now, Pay Later" model, allowing customers to experience a product before committing to a purchase, which aims to reduce cart abandonment and sustainably acquire new customers. The core difference lies in their approach to payments. Synchrony provides payment solutions, enabling deferred or installment payments post-purchase. TryOnify offers a pre-purchase trial period, delaying payments until after the customer has experienced the product. While Synchrony focuses on offering more payment methods, TryOnify focuses on overcoming purchase hesitations and increasing product confidence through a free trial. The ease of use for each app also likely differs. Synchrony highlights guided onboarding, while TryOnify emphasizes a "quick & easy setup."

Our Verdict
Choosing between Synchrony On-Site Messaging and TryOnify depends heavily on your business model and target audience. If you sell higher-priced items where financing options can significantly influence sales, Synchrony is likely the better choice. Its range of financing solutions provides customers with flexible payment plans. However, if your products benefit from a trial period – for example, clothing, beauty products, or software – and you're looking to build trust and reduce purchase hesitation, TryOnify's "Try Before You Buy" approach is more suitable. It offers a unique way to acquire customers sustainably.
It's important to consider the low review count for both apps, but TryOnify with 4 reviews at 5/5 gives a somewhat better signal of user experience than Synchrony’s single 4/5 review. Ultimately, the ideal choice comes down to whether your priority is providing payment solutions or building customer confidence through product trials. TryOnify appears to cater to a more modern shopping experience that could resonate well with a younger demographic.
