Ting ‑ Slack Notifications vs Trackable ‑ Order Statusfor Shopify (2026)
Ting ‑ Slack Notifications and Trackable ‑ Order Status, while both listed in the 'Order tracking' category on the Shopify app store, serve fundamentally different purposes and target distinct merchant needs. Ting focuses on internal team communication and real-time monitoring of store activity through Slack notifications and reporting. It's designed to keep merchants and their teams instantly informed about new orders, key order details, and overall sales performance directly within their existing Slack workflow. Trackable, on the other hand, is customer-facing. It aims to reduce customer support inquiries by providing customers with an easy-to-use order tracking page generated using Shopify's order summary features, focusing on displaying tracking information for major carriers. Ting prioritizes immediate internal access to order data and statistics, enabling prompt decision-making and team coordination. Trackable emphasizes enhancing the customer experience by providing self-service order tracking, leading to reduced support load and potentially higher customer satisfaction. The key difference lies in their intended users: Ting is for merchants and their internal teams, while Trackable is for customers. While both indirectly relate to order tracking, their features and intended outcomes are very different.

Our Verdict
The choice between Ting ‑ Slack Notifications and Trackable ‑ Order Status depends entirely on the specific needs of the Shopify merchant. If the merchant is seeking to improve internal team communication, real-time sales monitoring, and operational efficiency by leveraging Slack, Ting is the clear choice. It provides instant access to order details and statistics directly within a familiar communication platform. However, if the primary goal is to reduce customer support inquiries related to order tracking and provide a better customer experience by empowering customers to track their own orders, Trackable is the more suitable option.
While both apps fall under the broader category of 'Order tracking', they address entirely different aspects of the order fulfillment process. A mature Shopify store might even benefit from using both apps in conjunction, using Trackable to handle customer inquiries and Ting for internal monitoring and control.

If I use a carrier not supported by Shopify (and therefore Trackable), can Trackable still track those orders?
