Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsell vs Wrapin ‑ Gift Wrap & Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
Upcart and Wrapin, while both falling under the 'Upsell and Cross-sell' category on Shopify, cater to vastly different aspects of improving the customer experience and increasing revenue. Upcart focuses on enhancing the cart itself, turning it into a dynamic upselling and cross-selling platform with extensive customization options. It's positioned as a replacement for basic cart drawers, aiming to reduce cart abandonment and boost AOV through in-cart incentives and a persistent, visible cart. It boasts a high number of reviews (648) and a strong rating (4.7/5), suggesting wide adoption and satisfaction. Upcart offers deep cart customization with HTML, CSS, and JSX, a feature absent from Wrapin. Wrapin, on the other hand, centers around offering gift-wrapping and personalized messaging options to customers. Its primary goal is to add value to orders and offer thoughtful services that differentiate a store from competitors. It doesn't directly address cart abandonment or AOV through product-focused incentives but rather enhances the gifting experience. Wrapin has a perfect rating of 5/5, though based on a smaller number of reviews (359). It excels in features like multiple language support for gift options and automated order tagging for gift-wrapped items, functionalities Upcart lacks. Ultimately, Upcart focuses on optimizing the checkout process through product-focused incentives, while Wrapin elevates the customer experience through gift-related personalization.

Our Verdict
For stores primarily focused on maximizing AOV and reducing cart abandonment through strategic product placement and incentives within the cart, Upcart is the clear choice. Its robust customization options also make it suitable for brands with specific design requirements. Conversely, if the goal is to offer a superior gifting experience and differentiate through personalization, Wrapin is the better option. Businesses selling products that are often given as gifts (e.g., jewelry, cosmetics, gourmet foods) will find Wrapin particularly valuable. A store might benefit from using both apps, leveraging Upcart for general AOV improvement and Wrapin for gift-specific orders, though this would depend on budget and technical resources. However, if a merchant must choose only one, they need to evaluate whether improving the core checkout experience (Upcart) or enhancing the gift-giving aspect (Wrapin) is the priority.
Common Questions
Does Upcart offer gift wrapping options like Wrapin?
No, Upcart does not directly offer gift wrapping functionalities. Its upselling and cross-selling features focus on product recommendations and incentives within the cart.
Can I customize the look and feel of Wrapin to match my store's branding?
Yes, Wrapin is designed to complement your existing theme, design, and layout. While it may not offer the same level of granular control as Upcart, it is intended to integrate seamlessly with your store's aesthetic.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Wrapin likely offers a simpler setup process, as it focuses on a specific feature (gift wrapping). Upcart, with its advanced customization options (HTML, CSS, JSX), requires more technical expertise to fully utilize.
If I want to increase my average order value (AOV), which app is more effective?
Upcart is specifically designed to increase AOV with in-cart upsells, cross-sells, rewards, and free shipping goals. While Wrapin can potentially increase revenue by offering gift wrapping as a paid option, its primary focus is not on directly increasing AOV through product-related incentives.
Does either app offer analytics or reporting?
Wrapin offers order tagging and report generation for gift-wrapped items. While not explicitly stated in the description, Upcart, given its focus on AOV and conversion optimization, likely provides some form of analytics to track the performance of its upselling and cross-selling features. A merchant should consult the app documentation for details.
