BL Scrolling Announcement Bar vs Mate ‑ back in stock alertfor Shopify (2026)
BL Scrolling Announcement Bar and Mate ‑ back in stock alert are both Shopify apps in the Notifications category, but they serve drastically different purposes. BL Scrolling Announcement Bar focuses on improving on-site communication through a customizable, animated announcement bar. It aims to enhance customer engagement by highlighting promotions, updates, and key information with visually appealing scrolling banners. Mate, on the other hand, appears (based on its name and category) to be an app dedicated to back-in-stock notifications, focusing on recovering potentially lost sales and improving customer retention by alerting customers when previously unavailable products are restocked. The primary difference lies in their core functionality: BL Scrolling Announcement Bar aims for proactive communication and promotional messaging, while Mate is centered on reactive communication triggered by product availability. The former targets merchants looking to actively market offers and news on their store, while the latter caters to merchants concerned with stock management and minimizing lost sales due to out-of-stock items. Choosing between the two depends entirely on whether the merchant's priority lies in active promotion or reactive customer engagement related to product availability.

Our Verdict
The choice between BL Scrolling Announcement Bar and Mate depends entirely on a merchant's specific needs. If the primary goal is to enhance on-site communication, highlight promotions, and improve customer engagement through visually appealing announcements, BL Scrolling Announcement Bar is the clear choice. Its customization options allow for aligning the announcement bar with the store's branding. However, if the focus is on recovering lost sales and improving customer satisfaction by automatically notifying customers when out-of-stock items become available, Mate is the better option.
While BL Scrolling Announcement Bar boasts a perfect rating, the very limited number of reviews (2) should be considered. Mate has a slightly lower rating but is based on more reviews (10), lending it more credibility. Merchants should evaluate their priorities and consider the review count when making their final decision. In many cases, merchants could benefit from *both* apps, addressing different areas of their online store strategy.
