Boxi: Bundle Builder vs Essential Free Shipping Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
Boxi: Bundle Builder and Essential Free Shipping Upsell both aim to increase sales for Shopify merchants, but they approach this goal with different strategies. Boxi focuses on enabling customers to create custom product bundles, likely boosting average order value by encouraging multi-item purchases. Conversely, Essential Free Shipping Upsell uses a free shipping progress bar and cart upsells to motivate customers to add more items to their cart to reach a defined spending threshold. The substantial difference in the number of reviews suggests that Essential Free Shipping Upsell has a much larger user base and potentially a more established presence in the Shopify app ecosystem. Although both apps have 5-star ratings, the higher number of reviews for Essential Free Shipping Upsell gives more statistical weight to its positive rating.

Our Verdict
If a merchant's strategy involves encouraging customers to buy multiple products together as bundles, Boxi: Bundle Builder is likely the better choice. The app is specifically designed for creating and managing bundles. However, with significantly more reviews, Essential Free Shipping Upsell offers a more proven approach focusing on leveraging free shipping thresholds to increase average order value. For merchants primarily focused on raising AOV through free shipping incentives and cart-based upsells/cross-sells, it would be the preferred app, particularly given its detailed feature set and higher number of positive reviews. New merchants might also opt for Essential Free Shipping Upsell due to more readily-available community and documentation.
