B&S ‑ Announcement Bar vs Mate ‑ back in stock alertfor Shopify (2026)
B&S ‑ Announcement Bar and Mate ‑ back in stock alert serve fundamentally different purposes within a Shopify store. B&S aims to boost sales and engagement through visually appealing and informative announcement bars, targeting a broad audience of merchants seeking to highlight promotions, news, and discounts. It focuses on improving the user experience by drawing attention to important messages with customizable banners, scheduling features, and news feeds. In contrast, Mate ‑ back in stock alert is narrowly focused on addressing the problem of out-of-stock items. It caters specifically to merchants who want to recapture lost sales by notifying customers when products they're interested in become available again. While both apps fall under the umbrella of 'Notifications - Other', their functional overlap is minimal. B&S is proactively pushing information, while Mate is reactively responding to customer demand. Choosing between them depends entirely on whether the merchant's priority is proactive marketing or reactive stock management.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on proactive marketing, driving sales through promotions, and announcing important news, B&S ‑ Announcement Bar is the clear choice. Its customizable banners and scheduling features provide the tools necessary for effective advertising. However, merchants struggling with frequently out-of-stock items and looking to recapture potentially lost sales would be better served by Mate ‑ back in stock alert. The latter's focus on reactive notifications directly addresses the problem of customer abandonment due to unavailability. The lower number of reviews for B&S should be taken into consideration but its perfect score might be persuasive to certain merchants. Ultimately, the best choice depends on the specific needs and priorities of the Shopify store.
