Our Verdict
If your store sells products where compatibility is paramount (e.g., auto parts, electronics components), C: Year Make Model Search is the clear choice. Its YMM-based search functionality directly addresses the need for precise product filtering. However, if your store has a diverse product range and you're looking to improve overall navigation and catalog organization, Categories Uncomplicated is the better option. Its hierarchical category structure and SEO enhancements can significantly improve the customer experience. While Categories Uncomplicated has a slightly higher rating, the lower review count compared to C: Year Make Model Search suggests a smaller user base and potentially less established presence.
Common Questions
Which app is better for SEO?
Categories Uncomplicated directly improves SEO through dynamic JSON-LD, while C: Year Make Model Search improves it indirectly by helping customers find the right product faster, potentially reducing bounce rates.
Which app is easier to set up?
Categories Uncomplicated likely offers a simpler initial setup due to its drag-and-drop installation and integration with Shopify's navigation. C: Year Make Model Search requires either manual entry or CSV import of YMM data, which can be more time-consuming.
Can I use both apps together?
While technically possible, using both apps might be redundant. C: Year Make Model Search provides a highly specific search function, while Categories Uncomplicated focuses on broad organization. Consider your store's specific needs to avoid confusing the customer.
Which app is better for a store selling phone cases?
Categories Uncomplicated would likely be more beneficial for a phone case store. You could organize cases by phone model (e.g., iPhone 18, Samsung Galaxy S30), case type (e.g., hard, soft, wallet), and material. The YMM model offered by the other app isn't very relevant here.
