Census: Customer Surveys vs Compra Post Purchase Surveysfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, the choice between Census: Customer Surveys and Compra Post Purchase Surveys for Shopify merchants comes down to prioritizing established reputation versus a wider feature set. Census boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on 23 reviews, suggesting strong user satisfaction, but offers limited feature information. Compra, on the other hand, presents itself as a more comprehensive survey and insights platform, emphasizing its ability to collect zero-party data across multiple touchpoints (checkout, thank-you pages, on-site, and links) and offering advanced targeting capabilities using Shopify attributes. While Census's lack of detailed feature descriptions makes it difficult to directly compare functionalities, Compra's focus on post-purchase, pre-purchase, and on-site surveys, along with advanced targeting and Shopify Flow integration, indicates a broader range of potential applications. The zero rating and lack of reviews for Compra, however, represent a significant risk. The key difference lies in the tradeoff between confirmed positive experience (Census) and potentially greater functionality but unproven reliability (Compra). The ideal choice depends on a merchant's risk tolerance and specific survey needs.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing a proven track record and straightforward customer surveys, Census: Customer Surveys is the safer choice, assuming it meets their basic requirements. The strong rating suggests a reliable and user-friendly experience. However, for merchants seeking a more robust survey platform with advanced targeting, automation, and the ability to collect zero-party data across multiple touchpoints, Compra Post Purchase Surveys might be worth considering, but only if the merchant is willing to accept the risk associated with a brand-new app without any user reviews. Careful consideration of Compra's specific feature set is crucial to determining if it justifies the risk. Further due diligence is strongly advised before investing in Compra.
