Census: Customer Surveys vs DIYVA Conversational AIfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, choosing between Census: Customer Surveys and DIYVA Conversational AI presents a stark contrast. Census boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on 23 reviews, suggesting established customer satisfaction and reliability. It likely focuses on traditional survey methods, appealing to merchants who prioritize a proven track record. Conversely, DIYVA Conversational AI, with a 0/5 rating and no reviews, is a newer entrant focusing on voice-based conversational surveys via a chatbot. This positions it towards merchants seeking a modern, potentially more engaging survey experience through voice interaction, especially for customers who might prefer speaking their opinions. However, its lack of reviews and current limitation to Vintage themes present significant risks. DIYVA aims to differentiate itself by integrating a chatbot directly into Collection, Product, and Order Status pages, offering a more contextual and readily accessible survey experience. Its customizability, such as theme color matching and questionnaire editing via their platform, are designed to integrate seamlessly with the merchant's brand. However, this comes at the cost of being a potentially less mature app, with its current inability to natively support Online Store 2.0 themes being a major drawback unless the merchant proactively contacts DIYVA for integration. Census, on the other hand, benefits from proven satisfaction based on its user ratings, potentially offering a more stable and user-friendly platform for basic survey needs.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing a proven and reliable survey solution with a solid track record, Census: Customer Surveys is the safer choice. Its 5/5 rating based on existing user reviews indicates customer satisfaction. However, for merchants keen to experiment with innovative voice-based surveys and are willing to take a risk with a newer app and potentially invest in theme integration, DIYVA Conversational AI could be an option. This is especially true if their target demographic is more receptive to voice interactions.
Ultimately, the decision hinges on risk tolerance, theme compatibility, and the desired survey experience. The lack of reviews for DIYVA warrants caution, and merchants should carefully consider whether its unique feature set outweighs the potential downsides of a less established app. If the merchant does not need voice-based chatbots, and wants the certainty that it'll work out of the box on a modern Shopify theme, then Census: Customer Surveys is probably the better choice.
