Census: Customer Surveys vs IPS ‑ Contact Form to Any APIfor Shopify (2026)
Census: Customer Surveys and IPS ‑ Contact Form to Any API both fall under the 'Surveys' category on Shopify, but they cater to distinct needs. Census appears laser-focused on gathering customer feedback via surveys, implied by its name. It boasts a perfect 5-star rating, though from a relatively small sample size of 23 reviews. IPS ‑ Contact Form to Any API, on the other hand, is a more versatile form builder designed to capture a wider range of data and integrate with external systems. Its headline and description emphasize customizability and data flow control, aiming for merchants, agencies, and developers looking for more than simple survey functionality. The key difference lies in their functionality and target users. Census is likely simpler to use for basic customer surveys, while IPS offers more advanced features like API integrations and CRM connections. The target audience for Census is probably merchants wanting quick and easy customer feedback, whereas IPS targets those needing custom forms integrated into their existing workflows. IPS's free plan is attractive, allowing merchants to test core functionality before committing to paid automation features. IPS is designed for a potentially wider audience, from merchants to developers, and is not limited to surveys but also contact forms.

Our Verdict
If you need a straightforward solution solely for gathering customer feedback through surveys, and prefer an app with a perfect rating (although from a small sample), Census: Customer Surveys might be sufficient. However, its lack of detail regarding data flow and pricing makes it difficult to fully assess.
For merchants who require a versatile form builder that can integrate with CRMs, email marketing platforms, and other tools, IPS ‑ Contact Form to Any API is the better choice. Its free plan allows you to experiment with custom form creation and basic data collection, and its drag-and-drop interface simplifies form design. While its rating is slightly lower, and its reviews are few, its detailed description and emphasis on API integrations make it a more powerful option for businesses needing sophisticated data capture and automation capabilities.
