Essential Free Shipping Upsell vs SB | Simple Bundles & Kitsfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Free Shipping Upsell and SB | Simple Bundles & Kits both aim to boost Average Order Value (AOV) through upselling and cross-selling techniques, but they approach the problem from different angles. Essential Free Shipping Upsell focuses on leveraging the psychological trigger of free shipping by offering a progress bar that encourages customers to add more items to their cart to qualify. It's designed for simplicity and ease of use, targeting merchants who want a quick and straightforward solution to increase AOV. SB | Simple Bundles & Kits, on the other hand, takes a more comprehensive approach by enabling merchants to create various types of product bundles, including mix-and-match, subscription, and BOGO offers. SB | Simple Bundles & Kits is aimed at merchants with more complex product catalogs or those who want to offer a wider range of bundled deals. It offers advanced features like inventory synchronization and integration with other systems, making it suitable for larger stores or those with intricate fulfillment processes. While Essential Free Shipping Upsell is primarily focused on increasing AOV by motivating customers to reach a free shipping threshold, SB | Simple Bundles & Kits facilitates AOV growth through strategic product grouping and promotional bundles.

Our Verdict
For smaller stores or those primarily looking to increase AOV by leveraging the allure of free shipping, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is the simpler and potentially more effective choice. Its focus on a single, easily understandable incentive makes it easy to implement and manage. The higher rating despite fewer reviews suggests users are very satisfied with its focused functionality.
However, for larger businesses or those with a complex product catalog needing advanced inventory management and diverse bundle offerings, SB | Simple Bundles & Kits is the superior option. Its integrations and comprehensive feature set make it a powerful tool for strategic upselling and cross-selling, even though it might have a slightly steeper learning curve.
