Locad vs Retention Xfor Shopify (2026)
Locad and RetentionX are both Shopify apps that touch upon the 'Analytics' category, but cater to vastly different needs. Locad positions itself as a comprehensive logistics engine focusing on fulfillment within the Asia-Pacific region. Its strength lies in its ability to manage inventory, automate order fulfillment, optimize shipping, and provide reporting within its specific geographic focus. Locad is designed for merchants struggling with logistics across Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Australia and seek a solution for storing, packing, shipping, and tracking orders in the region. RetentionX, on the other hand, is an E-Commerce Growth OS designed for customer-obsessed teams. RetentionX offers a broad suite of tools encompassing customer intelligence, conversion tracking, attribution, and marketing automation. Its strength lies in unifying data and providing actionable insights to maximize growth, retention, and profitability. It goes beyond basic analytics and incorporates features like automated audiences and auto-merchandising, aimed at optimizing marketing spend and product performance. Therefore, RetentionX is better suited for merchants who have established logistical infrastructure and aim to improve the quality of their marketing and customer retention strategies based on deep analytics and automation, rather than just fulfillment. The significant difference in the user ratings and the number of reviews for each app reflects the divergence in merchant reception of the two apps and possibly a difference in the quality of execution. Locad addresses operational issues, while RetentionX aims for strategic decision-making. The overlap in the 'Analytics' category is due to both apps providing data-driven insights, but Locad focuses on logistics-related metrics, while RetentionX centers on customer and marketing analytics.

Our Verdict
For merchants facing logistical challenges, particularly those expanding or operating in the Asia-Pacific region, Locad might seem like a good solution to solve inventory and shipping problems. However, the extremely low rating and minimal reviews are concerning, and extensive due diligence is required before committing. On the other hand, RetentionX is the superior choice for merchants seeking to enhance customer retention, optimize marketing campaigns, and leverage data-driven insights for growth. With a high rating and a substantial number of positive reviews, RetentionX is likely to offer a more reliable and effective solution for customer-centric businesses.
Common Questions
Which app is better for international expansion?
Locad explicitly targets Asia-Pacific logistics, so it is designed to facilitate expansion in that region. RetentionX doesn't directly support international expansion, but its analytics could indirectly inform expansion strategies.
Which app is easier to use?
Based on the ratings and descriptions, RetentionX appears to be the easier app to use. Its description mentions an intuitive UI and hands-on support, while Locad's low rating suggests potential usability issues.
Do these apps integrate with Klaviyo?
RetentionX directly integrates with Klaviyo for automated audience syncing. Locad does not mention Klaviyo integration in its description.
Which app is better for small businesses with limited budgets?
Without pricing information, it is difficult to determine. However, RetentionX seems to offer more features and value, but may come at a higher price. A careful comparison of pricing and feature requirements is necessary.
Do both apps provide real-time data?
While both apps claim to offer reporting and analysis, it's unclear if this data is real-time. Locad offers 'Automated Order Fulfillment and Visibility' implying real-time tracking. RetentionX's 'Conversion APIs' suggest real-time data transfer to ad platforms for optimization.
